Welcome to the Ad Hoc blog

This is a blog for the Ad Hoc Singers. We met in Salt Lake City in the 1970s and 1980s to rehearse, sing once in a while, eat desert [sic] and generally have a good time.

It is open to all Ad Hoc singers for them to post comments and pictures (although I haven't tried posting a picture yet).

Though it might have felt as if we were eating "desert" in Utah all those years ago as Carl writes, we were in fact eating "dessert," which is evident by my spreading waistline!!

What a great idea, Carl!! Thanks so much for setting this up.

Hey, desert or dessert, I enjoy it all! MJ

OK, OK, ...

Sometimes I can spell - but I never could distinguish desert from dessert - which is why I had to run away from Utah. Right?

No - but it is true that I have never memorized that difference. I just last month bothered to memorize the difference between "compliment" and "complement", so that I don't have to look them up every time I use them.

Ah, well. Spelling isn't everything -- and that's a compliment!!!

This is great, Carl. I've never fully understood blogs, so now I can learn what they are all about. Appears similar to QuickPlace. Thanks so much :-)

Desert is spelled with one "s" because one desert is enough. Dessert has two "ss" because you would usually want more than one serving. I know how to spell desert because that's where I live. I found signing onto the blog more difficult. But I finally figured it out. Hello all.

I like Linda's rule for spelling desert. Thanks, Linda!
